Celebrating 60 years together - no matter how far apart.
Masterman's History
In the spring of 1961, Ben Masterman purchased a list from a man about to retire from his first aid supply business. He packed his station wagon with product and began delivering orders to local manufacturers around Worcester, MA. In the mid-'70s, Ben decided to start making telephone calls in-between appointments to make better use of his time. When these proved successful, he enlisted help from a couple of neighborhood friends to call manufacturers in and around New England. Ben, with the support of his wife Linda, continued to expand beyond first aid supplies, eventually specializing in a wide range of personal protective equipment.
Masterman's has grown to be a national distributor, employing over 100 people and stocking over 25,000 SKUs in our 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse. In 2008, Ben’s son Tod launched our screen printing and embroidery division. With our in-house services, we are able to provide high-quality workmanship and a quick turnaround time. We have recently expanded these services to include custom banners and stickers.
Providing exceptional service is the foundation on which Masterman's was built. Our number one priority is you, our customer.
Our Founder
Ben Masterman passed away in June 2013. Known as a man of unparalleled generosity, Ben valued relationships above all else and treated every single person with love and respect. Our employees honor his legacy each day by treating every customer with the utmost respect and integrity. As Ben was famous for saying…
"There is no better wisdom than kindness."
Ben grew up in Worcester, MA and was a member of the Boys & Girls Club back in the 1940s & 50s. It was there that he learned how to play table tennis and by age 17 he was a nationally ranked champion representing the Lincoln Street B&G Club. At left is a photo of him at that age, with paddle in hand.
During his time at the club, Ben also learned the importance of hard work and perseverance, which would eventually prove to be valuable business skills later in life. In time, the business grew from a one man operation to include his wife Linda, son Tod and 100+ full and part-time employees.
This year we are celebrating the memory of our founder and an inspirational leader for our 60th anniversary. Cheers to Ben, and to Linda and Tod Masterman who continue to keep his spirit alive!
